The Cred
I’m a UX and visual designer with 25+ years of experience transforming complex federal workflows into intuitive, accessible digital experiences. I specialize in responsive web design, accessibility, stakeholder collaboration, and bridging the gap between design and development.
I hold a current DoD Secret clearance.
Throughout my career in federal contracting, I’ve supported mission-critical programs, including:
- NASA & DoD (SBIR/STTR) — modernized small-business grant workflows from paper to web
- FDA (SCAIL) — digitized field sample tracking and testing, cutting process time by 55%
- MAX.gov — improved usability and mobile access for a major federal intranet
- DOT & ATF — designed online training platforms for federal employees
My toolkit includes Adobe Creative Suite (XD), Axure RP 10, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap, knowledge of Angular Material and Appian, and I have incorporated AI into my process for increased productivity. I have experience with the Agile work methodology, and I always design with Section 508 compliance in mind — not as an afterthought.
With additional experience in back-end development and database design, I partner effectively with engineers to deliver solutions that are both elegant and technically feasible.
Outside of UX, I’m an active visual artist (oils, acrylics, watercolors), which continues to inform my design instincts and creativity.
The Work
The Man
I’ve been part of the web world since the Dot Com boom (and bust), building a career that’s touched nearly every aspect of design and development. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats—project manager, client liaison, estimator, user researcher, print and digital designer, front-end developer, database designer, QA tester, and 508 compliance tester—all the way through to final product delivery.
While I enjoyed exploring every corner of the field, I ultimately focused on front-end design and development—what the user sees and experiences. With a background in painting and a lifelong love of art, this path felt like the most natural way to blend creativity and technology.
That broad experience gives me a holistic view of the full project lifecycle, allowing me to anticipate and manage the many moving parts involved from concept to launch.
Outside of work, I make plenty of time for life beyond the screen. I love traveling with my family, cheering on my kids at their sporting events, and visiting DC’s many museums. As a lifelong car enthusiast and racing fan, you might find me trackside at a sports-car race or admiring classics at a cars-and-coffee event. I also stay active through fitness and gravel cycling—with a few long-distance bikepacking trips to keep things interesting.
The Call
I am interested in working in the DC Metro Area, in any work-location capacity (remote, hybrid or on-site).
